A Railway Vote
The Governor recommended the Coun. ail to vote a sum of $1,050 in aid of the vote Kowloon-Canton Railway, Special Expenditure, platform awnings.
THE CHAIRMAN-This is required in connection with the construction of the awnings of the Kowloon Railway Station. There are also certain alter- ations necessary to the iron fences and gates which were unforeseen.
Approved.
A Public Works Vote
The Officer Administering the Govera- ment recommended the Council to vote a sum of $1,550 on account of Public Works. Extraordinary, Extensions and alterations to No. 1 Motor House, Garden Road.
THE CHAIRMAN There was a balance at the end of last year of $1,550. Owing to the building not being completed it was not paid out This amount of 81,550, is, therefore, in the nature of a re-vote.
Approved.
Vote for Bathing Places
The Officer Administering the Govern- ment recommended the Council to vote sum of $5,300 in aid of the vote Mis- cellaneous Services, Bathing Places, North Point and Kennedy Town.
THE CHAIRMAN-In the estimates for this year there is a sum of $2,700 allowed for bathing beaches. A Committee was then appointed to go into the matter and they considered the question of providing further bathing beaches and fcilities. The proposals involved a total expendi- ture of 88,000. The present supplemen tary vote is asked for to cover the deficiency.
